The six short films on this DVD were created by Donald B. MacMillan in the 1930s using footage he shot on four expeditions to Greenland between 1923 and 1926. Some films have sound, others are silent. Films included are: “The Most Northern People in the World,” “Traveling with the Eskimos of North Greenland,” “Birds and Animals of the Far North,” “Hunting Muskox with the Polar Eskimo,” “Eskimo Walrus Hunt,” and “Eskimo Life in South Greenland.” The films have been preserved as part of a long-term project at the Peary-MacMillan Arctic Museum to preserve all of MacMillan’s films.
