Tautunguarnirijara - The Way I Picture It DVD
In 1948, 1950, and 1954 Donald B. MacMillan sailed the Schooner Bowdoin to Baffin Island, in arctic Canada, where he met and filmed Inuit families summering in the vicinity of Pond Inlet.
This 11-minute film, an Arctic Museum and Pond Inlet community collaboration, features some of that footage, a script developed by Mekai Ootova and Elisapie Ootova, who are Pond Inlet residents and descendants of some of the Inuit in the film, and songs their ancestors wrote.
A 14-page booklet contains genealogical notes and song transcriptions in English and Inuktitut.
This project was funded by Bowdoin College, the Oak Foundation, and the National Science Foundation.
